Saltair gets visits of the Hercules barge

The logs are brought in on the barge from the west coast of British Columbia, where there are no roads, cheaper to bring to the sawmill in Ladysmith with the Hercules Barge.

After the dump, the tug boats gather the log and bring them to the sawmill 2 miles from this video was made. You are looking at 700 truckloads there. It is easier to unload them all at once by filling half the haul with water till they slide off. It takes about 1 -1/2 to 2 hours to fill one side of the barge with water, tilting it. Then it lets loose. Check the video description to see a better version of the log dump.

Awesome to watch but not environmentally friendly due to deforestation and seabed pollution. This practice has been banned in the US.
Love watching those tips from Transfer Beach
